With all the hype, concern, fear, anger, and many other
emotions being felt by the release of the book the DaVinci Code and more
recently the release of the movie, I have been looking for some information
that people could read, that is of a factual basis in the scriptures and
written history, as well as something to address the many "conspiracy
theories" that now abound since it's release in book and movie form.
Too many of us as Christian are easily shaken in our
faith every time something like this comes along. I can be one of
them. I profess to have total faith in God and then some crisis
shakes me and puts fear in my soul. Why is that? Simply put,
it's a lack of solid faith and shame on me for letting that get in the
way truth. I forget what faith really is. It's not something comes
from the stories, be they fact, fiction, or otherwise but more simply
put, faith "just is" We are also looking for proof of something
before we want to believe anything, and if we can't prove it, then it's
probably not true or so our minds would have us believe. Faith is
exactly the opposite. It's believing in something without having
proof, but believing that something just "is"! God asks us to
believe in him and in his son Jesus in order that we might join him
someday in heaven. He doesn't say that he's going to give us proof
of his word but asks us to have faith in his word and believe in him.
The DaVinci Code would have us think otherwise.
Among the many plots in the story and one I hear often about is "was Jesus" married? Truth? I haven't a clue. There isn't
anything available that tells us this to be true, yet there also is
nothing that tells us it's not, but the synopsis can be varied in
both directions. I might offend a a few people with
this following statement, but "does it really matter" whether
Jesus was married or not? It has no bearing on what I believe, and that is
that he was sent to this earth in human form to provide us with a path
to heaven by believing he was the son of God and that he died for our
sins. There's no where I've ever found that mentions that whether
or not he was married and even if he was so what? Marriage is a
sacred sacrament that I do not find offensive at all to think Christ might
have taken part in. God blesses the sanctity of it and since
Christ was God in human form, why couldn't he have been married?
Either way, it does nothing to shake my belief in Jesus Christ and for
the most part I take the book and movie for what it was, entertainment
and a work of fiction. The bible is fact enough for me and whether
there was some huge conspiracy by the early church to hide books of the
gospel, or whether the holy grail was hidden and should be searched for and found, or
whether or not Christ was married, would all be part of God's plan.
If he wanted us to know these things, then we would have or will someday. The evil powers of this earth love it when believers wobble in their
faith! The Devil revels in our weakness of mind and body and will
take every advantage to change our thoughts towards doubt and suspicion.
Don't help him do it! Stand strong and the DaVinci
code becomes just another piece of fictional entertainment that a writer
and now Hollywood loves to hype, so we all go and spend our money and keep
them in riches. Well you know what? I already have enough
riches to last me until eternity and that is my faith in a God that
cares. Bible prophecy isn't intended to frighten us, but it's to
prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that God is real and omnipotent and
active in our lives; to warn us of the very real danger lying ahead for
those who reject his love and mercy; and to encourage us to accept his
gracious and free offer of salvation through his Son, Jesus.
Love your art work DaVinci, but a prophet he wasn't.
