We measured and cut our roof trusses. The pitch you use for this is really up to you. We needed enough pitch to the roof of our chicken coop to allow the rain of summer and the snow of winter to easily run off from the roof. We built our roof at 15 degrees which should be more than sufficient for our weather conditions. The pitch in your case can be more or less depending on your area and typical winter weather conditions. It's not unusual for our area to have 3 or more feet of snow on a roof during the winter time and we definitely don't want our roof caving in on our chickens during the winter time now do we? We then attached the roof trusses to the outside wall frame. This gave us the needed dimensions for the side wall panels and made the measuring and cutting easier to do. Shown here is the side wall of our chicken coop that has the window opening.
This picture shows the measured and cut panel installed on the side wall of our chicken coop with the window opening cut out. Again I must remind you. Measure carefully. Measure twice and cut once is the key to not wasting expensive lumber. You will repeat this process for all of the remaining side walls.
