"Living In 3D" Sig Tag Tutorial
This tutorial was created on March 20, 2004. If it bears any resemblance to another tutorial on the net, it is pure coincidence. The skills that you will learn here are your own, and I hope that you will find them useful. In this tutorial, I will assume that you have a basic working knowledge of PSP, and it is made for upper level beginners with plug-in experience or intermediate skill levels. Materials:
Instructions: Open a new image 500 x 500 pixels. Flood fill this layer with a color of your choice that goes well with your tube. I used #69AAE4. Open the tube of your choice or the one provided. Edit copy, select your new image and choose paste as new layer and close your original image. Right click in your layer pane on your tube layer and choose duplicate layer 1 times. Hide the top layer. You should now have three layers with the same image and your background layer. Move your tube on layer 2 somewhere near the upper right corner. Select your tube image with your magic wand and apply a drop shadow with these settings: V = 5, H = 4, Opacity 100, Blur 6.0, Color #000000 (black). It should look something like this:
Right click on your layer pallet and Merge/Merge Visible. Apply the CPK Glass filter with these settings:
Unhide your duplicate tube layer and move it down and left slightly as if the background is mirroring your image.
Select your bottom merged layer. Highlight a small area just inside of your top tube layer using the rectangle selection tool.
Selections/Invert. Hit the delete key one time. Selections/Select None.
Select your top layer and position the tube image to your liking. Using your magic wand click somewhere outside of your image. Selections/Invert Apply a an Inner Bevel to the image. 3D Effects\Inner Bevel and use these settings:
With you image still selected, apply a drop shadow using these settings: V = 5, H = 4, Opacity 50, Blur 5.0, Color #000000 (black). Crop you image to the selection area of your choice. Save this image as a .psp image for later use and to add your text to. Add a new raster layer and re-name this layer "text". Select the font of your choice and add your text to your image on the text layer. I chose the Brussels font and used a gold effect but use the effect of your choice to make it your own.
