Shades of Romance Sig Tag Tutorial
This tutorial was created on April 4, 2004. If it bears any resemblance to another tutorial on the net, it is pure coincidence. The skills that you will learn here are your own, and I hope that you will find them useful. In this tutorial, I will assume that you have a basic working knowledge of PSP, and it is made for upper level beginners or intermediate skill levels. Materials:
Instructions: Open a new image 500 x 500 pixels. Open the tube of your choice or the flower tube provided. Edit copy, select your new blank image and choose Paste As New Layer. Place the image near the center of the canvas. Close your original image. Right click in your layer pane and choose duplicate layer 1 time. You should now have three layers, two with the same image. Hide your tube layers by clicking on the eye to the right of each layer. There should now be red X's on those two layers with only layer 1 visible. Select your bottom layer and flood fill with this color #C8AE99. Choose Layers/Load -Save Mask/Load Mask From Disk and select as below and apply:
Make sure your first copy layer is selected. Choose Effects/Art Media Effects/Brush Strokes and use these settings:
Choose Effects/Texture Effects/Blinds and use these settings:
Move this image using your mover tool up and slightly left of center from it's original position. Unhide your second copy layer. The image should be where it needs to be. Drop the transparency of this layer to 60%. You should have something that looks like this:
Open your pen tube. Edit/Copy. Select your original image. Edit/Paste As New Layer. Position this tube with your mover tool down and right of the other image. It should look similar to this:
Adjust, sharpness, sharpen. Merge, merge visible. Crop your image down to the size your want. Save this image as a .psp image for later use and to add your text to. Add a new raster layer and re-name this layer "text". Select two colors from the ink well for your text. I chose #9F7022 for the foreground and #EDD477for the background. Choose gradient from your background using foreground-background as your gradient selection and these settings:
Set your foreground to "null" Using your text tool (I used the Cloister font) add you text. Add an inner bevel using these settings:
Apply a drop shadow to your text with these settings:
Adjust/Sharpness/Sharpen Resize and crop you image to your liking and your done! Export your finished file as a transparent .gif and your all set. Hope you enjoyed this tutorial. Back to Main Tutorial List
